One of the many perks where we live is the proximity to Lancaster, PA. Lancaster is best known for being
Amish county. The drive from our house is about 40 minutes and it’s a beautiful drive through the countryside filled with farms, rolling hills and horse & buggies.

On Saturday we headed into Lancaster to attend the Guinness Book of World Record,
Largest Barbeque. It was quite the site, where they estimated 60,000 chickens being cooked. For 8 dollars a person you got a ½ chicken,
Herrs Chips, Turkey Hill Ice-cream, Turkey Hill Drink, roll & candy.

The event was held at Long's Park.

The tasty lunch

After lunch, we headed to
Shady Maple. A local grocery store with has the best produce and fresh meat!

On the way home we stopped at
September Farms where we sampled the freshest cheeses, curd and chocolate cheese fudge. Winner of lots of national awards the cheese was tasty. After buying some cheese (and fudge) to bring home, we headed home. It was a fun day to explore and support Lancaster county!
