4 Weeks

Yesterday marked 4 weeks, we made it! Granted there were tears (not all Mikey's) and a few fights but we made it and what a rough 4 weeks it was. Everyone kept saying it will get better starting around 4 weeks. I counted down the days and here we are. The last couple of nights around 4am, the frustration would set it, 4 weeks of sleep intervals of 1.5 hours is really hard. Well last night was the best night ever! I got up feeling refreshed; I even made Mike's lunch for him. He said "I haven’t seen you this nice in 10 months". I laughed partly because I think he is right! The reason for the good mood.... MIKEY ONLY GOT UP ONCE LAST NIGHT. I was shocked I even went into the master bedroom (yes, we are currently sleeping in separate rooms so Mikey doesn’t keep daddy up) to tell Mike. Monday night we fed Mikey at 9pm and then he stirred around 11pm so I went to feed him and he didn’t want it, he then got up at 1,4 and 5am. So Tuesday night in attempts to put him on a "schedule" I fed him an extra ounce at 9pm and put him in his crib. I expected to be woken up at the very latest around 1am..Well I heard him stirring at 1am but he went back to sleep. He didn’t wake up to be fed until 2:30am. I fed him and then went back to bed and Mikey didn’t get up again until 6:30am with a very happy mommy! I couldn’t ask for a better 4 week gift. I know it probably won’t be an every night occurrence but hey I will take what I can get. Mikey has also been really cranky after eating which I thought was colic; however, I think our little chunkier just wanted more food. If I give him an extra ounce he seemed to calm down tremendously (yes, that is now 5 ounces a feeding!!). He is getting much longer so he actually doesn’t look so chunky anymore. We go to the doctors next week where we will get his stats. I will be sure to share them but I am sure he will be a chart topper.
