I'm in a New York state of mind

It comes down to reality, and its fine with me cause I've let it slide.
I don't care if it's Chinatown or on Riverside.
I don't have any reasons.
I left them all behind.
I'm in a New York state of mind

The view from our room!
This past weekend we did our annual New York trip to visit Mikes sister Ashley and her boyfriend Jared. This year was the best by far. It was so fun Mikey take in the city. He loved it. We will definitely be turning this into at least a bi-annual trip :) We left Friday evening after an emergency trip to the doctor for a ruptured ear drum for the little guy with confirmation that the ear tubes are out yet again :( Anyhoo.. we arrived around 10pm and caught up at their house while enjoying some beers!

Mikeys first subway ride on the way to the Zoo!

We went to the Bronx Zoo. This was the best zoo we have ever been to, and I have been to a lot. It was huge, shaded and TONS of animals. Who knew in such a populated area lay such a wonderful zoo. If you are ever in NYC I highly recommend taking the 30 minute subway to visit this Zoo. After we went to the zoo we went to Bear Burger where we chowed down on yummy burgers like ostrich blue cheese (me) and bison burger (Jared). We also had some local New York beers.

They had a monorail that went around the whole park. You got to see all the animals. Worth the extra 5 dollars! Mikey LOVED it!

Mr Bear enjoyed meeting some of his friends!

Jared and my favorite part of the zoo we they had beer! You could wak around and ride the monorail with a beer in hand. Lions, Tigers and Beers.. Oh my!

Mikey enjoying Dip'n'dots!
Now onto our room. We stayed at the Court a super snazzy hotel 1.5 blocks from Ashleys house. At check-in they told Ashley and I "oh we have upgraded you to a suite with nice views" to which I said "oh nice thank you" the lady said "I don't think you understand its out best room". When we walked inside they were not kidding. GORGEOUS is an understatement. 800 square foot 1 bedroom 2 bath suite. Perfect views of the empire state building. I think Mike is afraid I might expect this now :)

Sunday we went to a local brunch spot and had some very tasty (and spicy) bloody marys. I got a Goat cheese and avocado omelet and Mike got spare rib hash with eggs.  We then went to Eatley  to stock up on yummy meats, cheeses and wine. The boys then took Mikey to Madison Square park while Ashley and I did some shopping :)

Those who know me know I do not like crowds of people or being hot so NYC usually is not my favorite place but the city is warming up to me. I have an appreciation for strolling along on a Saturday afternoon. I am also thinking about taking a longer trip up there.

All in all it was the perfect trip (and weather). Thank you both for hosting us and the monster man!!!

Isn't it great having family in the city? Ash is the best tour guide ever!
